The last week has arrived to purchase raffle tickets for Mid-Plains Community College’s restored and customized 1962 Chevy Nova. The drawing will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Colonel Cody’s Show and Shine Car Show in downtown North Platte. The hot rod will be on display from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bob Spady Buick GMC and after 3 p.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn Express in North Platte. It will be downtown at Colonel Cody’s Show and Shine from 8 a.m. to 1:59 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Raffle tickets are $10 each and no more than 6,000 will be sold. The drawing is at 2 p.m. The Nova features a L82 GM 350 C.I.D. cross-fire, fuel-injected engine; 700 R4 transmission; 9-inch Ford with 3:55 posi-traction differential; tubular front suspension with after-market sub-frame; vintage air conditioning; four-wheel disc brakes; and a completely new interior, door and header panels. The car was donated by Jim Ransdell of North Platte. It is wrapped in PPG Paint in Synergy Green, donated by Mid Plains Auto Finishes, and includes lettering and pinstriping furnished by Dave Smith Signs in Kearney. A number of automotive related vendors made contributions to the current project including the Car Doctor, J&M Parts and Equipment, Modern Muffler, E.J.’s Outdoor Sports and Cohagen Battery. Tickets are available wherever the car is on display and at these locations in North Platte: Bob Spady Buick-GMC, Cohagen Battery Store, Grandma's Memories Antiques & Collectibles, Isabelle’s Auction House, A.J. Janas, Pat Smith, Jody’s Auto Sales, Larry’s Barber Shop, Mid-Plains Auto Finishes, Modern Muffler, The Car Doctor, Twin River Body Shop, the NPCC North and South Campus Welcome Center’s and at the McCook Community College Welcome Center.
