Pamela Gayle Steeby, 47, of North Platte, pled no contest Tuesday to attempted distribution of methamphetamine. She was initially charged with distribution, but the charge was reduced in a plea bargain with the Lincoln County Attorney’s office. Attempted distribution carries a possible penalty of 1-5 years imprisonment. Prosecutors say Steeby was caught a year ago, on Aug. 8, 2011, when a confidential State Patrol informant met Steeby to arrange to buy meth. Steeby made a phone call and set up the deal. She and the informant went to a mobile home at 2300 East Philip, lot # 19 and bought methamphetamine. Following a lengthy investigation, Steeby was jailed March 28 and spent nearly a month in jail. She is out of jail on her own recognizance. Sentencing is set for Oct. 15.
Koubek Also in district court Tuesday, Jamie Jo Koubek, 22, of North Platte pleaded no contest to two charges of distributing meth. Her case was remanded to drug court by Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands, who said her sentence will be determined by what occurs there. Koubek was jailed on Sept. 11, 2011. She posted 10 percent of a $50,000 bond and was released three days later. In court Tuesday, defense attorney Patrick Hays asked her bond to be continued and Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling had no objection.
