Schendt, 44, has practiced law for 19 years in Nebraska and currently serves as Custer County Attorney, a position she has held since 1995. Previously, she served as Broken Bow City Attorney and Deputy Custer County Attorney.

The 8th judicial district consists of Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Howard, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sherman, Valley and Wheeler counties.

Schendt is a co-coordinator of the Nebraska Mock Trial Competition for the 8th Judicial District and serves as presiding judge for several competitions.

She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Law and has been a member of the Nebraska Bar Association since 1993, Heineman said.

She fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Gary G. Washburn.
