The public is invited to hear Husker color commentator Matt Davison speak at the Herhsey school on Aug. 28, hosted by the Hershey TeamMates Mentoring Program. Davidson was one Nebraska’s leaders on the gridiron during the 1997-2000 seasons. Husker fans recall his pass reception known simply as the “Catch,” which has become the most famous reception in Nebraska history. “The Catch” was highlighted during the 1997 Espy Awards as College Football’s Top Play, in addition to become the overall play of the year. Davison, raised in Tecumseh, currently is the color commentator for The Husker Sports Network. He will talk about Success Through Preparation and Leadership. Most people have the will to win, but few have the will to prepare to win, he says. Mentoring program organizers invite parents to bring family and friends to learn how Tom Osborne and Ron Brown, among others, affected not only Davidson’s life, but the lives of all Husker players. Davison will talk about how preparation is one of the most essential ingredients to success, and preparation in football mirrors preparation in life. He will tell motivating and humorous stories about Husker football. Organizers invite you to enjoy this free and inspirational evening at the Hershey East Gym. It begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
