The money will help support a new Healthy Living World exhibit and workshops, where children can learn about making healthy lifestyle choices.

The Wellness Grant is one of nine that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska grants awarded this year to nonprofit organizations in Nebraska.

The public is invited to attend the 1 p.m. check presentation at the museum. There is no admission fee to attend the presentation. All visitors Tuesday will be entered into a drawing to win a family membership to the museum.

The Healthy Living World exhibit will be made up of two components -- an interactive playground and educational workshops. The exhibit will give youth tips to stay physically fit and make healthy lifestyles choices.

Museum orgnizers said the EyePlay virtual playground will produce a recreational and cutting edge experience that will provide hours of fun for children and adults of all ages. Educational workshops will also be offered throughout the year and will involve instruction from dietitians and physicians from a variety of medical specialties. The workshops will provide educational materials on healthy eating habits and activities that children can engage in at home.

Amy Stefka, museum board president, and Keith Olsen, BCBSNE board member, will speak at the presentation.

BCBSNE is awarding a total of $100,000 in Wellness Grants to nine organizations throughout Nebraska. The Wellness Grant program supports organizations that aim for building healthier communities in the state.
