A motorcycle rider is in the Lincoln County Jail after leading troopers on high speed chase Monday morning on I-80. Just before 9:30 a.m., the Nebraska State Patrol Troop D Headquarters – North Platte was alerted by a motorist that a motorcycle was speeding west on I-80. A trooper saw a westbound 2002 Suzuki motorcycle about seven miles east of North Platte, clocked at 105 miles per hour. The trooper attempted to stop the bike but the biker kept going. A chase ensued on I-80 for nearly 10 minutes and reached speeds up to 145 mph, Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said. The biker finally pulled over at the Hershey exit. The driver, Eric R. Osborne, 29, of El Paso, Texas, was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail on charges to include speeding, flight to avoid arrest, and willful reckless driving, Collins said. Osborne is with an airborne forward support command unit at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, according to sheriff's records. In court Tuesday, he told Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull that he would not post bond, and requested a public defender.
