The final boating safety exam of the season for west central Nebraska will be held at the Nebraska Game and Parks Office in North Platte on Aug. 29, according to Scott Eveland, Boating Safety Officer for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The Nebraska Boating Safety course is required of all power boat operators born after Dec. 31, 1985, including operators of personal watercraft and all other motorboats. The minimum age to operate a boat in Nebraska is 14. The certification is available in two formats. This time, students study the class materials online, then attend a three-hour review session with proctored exam. In order to attend the test session, students pre-register by calling (308) 535-8025, study the class materials online at www.boatsafenebraska.org, and attend the review and test session. Students who have not pre-registered and completed the study materials will be denied admission to the review and test session. The registration deadline is Aug. 27. There is a $10 fee for the course. The review and test session is from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29.
