Sean Sanchez of North Platte was charged with felony theft Thursday for allegedly stealing two old pickups.

Sgt. Steve Reeves said the pickups were stolen from the 700 block of No. Bryan, property that was unoccupied. The pickups were reported stolen on Aug. 3 and investigators believe they had been sold to North Platte Metals in late July.

Police believe Sanchez was involved in the theft and may have trespassed onto the property and stole the vehicles. He was jailed and his bond was set at $2,500.

Sanchez told the Bulletin that he didn't steal anything - that he paid for the pickups.

"I have a job," he said. "I don't need to steal. I plan to fight this all the way."

Sanchez paid bond and said Monday he is back at work.
