• Weekend movies at the Platte River Mall include “The Dark Knight Rises”, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days”, “Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D”, “Step Up 4: 3D”, “The Watch.”, and “Total Recall.” Schedule subject to change, see www.carmike.com.

• Every day - Cody Go Karts - miniature golf, go karts, other "dry" activities 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Waterslides, bumper boats & "wet activities" 1-6 p.m. See www.codygokarts.com for pricing.

• Brady Days community celebration continues starting at 7 a.m. until noon.


Tuesday, Aug. 7

• Cody Park – National Night Out. Celebrate community health, safety, and prevention with free hotdogs, rides, and ice cream to the first 300 people. Kids have a chance to dunk their principals and counselors. Drawings held for school supplies and bikes. 6-8 p.m.


Wednesday, Aug. 8

• Pop Corner (1847 W. A) – Live piano and song by Shermie Wiehe. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

• D&N Event Center – Live rock music by national artists Buckcherry with special guest Fuel. Show for all ages. Starts 6 p.m. Tickets: $30 in advance; $35 at the door; $50 golden circle. Available at www.sculleyshooters.com.

• Iron Horse Park (north of Comfort Inn) – Family fishing even including panfish, bass and catfish fishing. Gear, bait and camaraderie supplied and fish cleaning demonstrated. 6-8 p.m.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. Fourth) – bingo, total of 24 games, starts at 6:45 p.m.

• North Platte Senior Center (900 E. Tenth) – the Golden Classics, a four-piece combo, plays a dance. 7-10 p.m.


Thursday, Aug. 9

• Ft. Cody Trading Post (near I-80 & US 83) - live music by Latin Jam of North Platte and California blues player extraordinaire Laurie Morvan. 6-9 p.m. Family friendly. $5 adults. Food and refreshments available or bring your own. You cannot carry in alcohol.


Friday, Aug. 10

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – West central Nebraska’s Open Mic Nite. This week Irish music is featured. Established performers and newcomers. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.

• Memorial Park – free movie in the park, Despicable Me, a computer-animated comedy film about a super-villain’s rivalry with another villain. Starts at 8 p.m. Free of charge. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Thistle Down. 9 p.m. Cover charge.


Saturday, Aug. 11

• Lincoln County Fairgrounds – raceway action with IMCA modifieds, hobby stocks, sports mods, etc. 7-10 p.m. Adults $10, Kids 6-12 $5, 5 and under free.

• Holiday Inn Express – Casino night with proceeds to benefit United Way Agency Programs. Includes auction, snacks, and appetizers. 7 p.m.-midnight. Tickets: $30.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Thistle Down. 9 p.m. Cover charge.

• Holiday Inn Express - Casino Night, 7 p.m.-midnight. Fundraiser for United Way. Advance tickets $25. $30 at door.

• Eagles Club - live music by the Gary Phipps Show. Starts a 7 p.m. Cover charge. Open to the public.


Monday-Wednesday, Aug. 13-15

• Harvest Christian Fellowship (1501 S. Dewey) – Ventriloquist and comedian Gene Cordova performance. 7-8:30 p.m.


Wednesday, Aug. 15

• Harvest Christian Fellowship church (1501 S. Dewey) - Family movie night. Rio. 7 p.m. $2 per person, includes pop and bag of popcorn. Proceeds benefit mission trip to Poland next year.

Saturday, Aug. 18

• Maxwell – Maxwell Heritage Day with parade, feed, team races, and draft horse pull. Events throughout town all day.

• Quality Inn (2102 S. Jeffers) – “Anticipation of Hope” gala, a Rape and Domestic Abuse program to celebrate survivors and hear their stories. Silent auction. 6 p.m. Make reservations at 532-0624. Cost $30.

• Eagles Club - live music by the Gary Phipps Show. Starts a 7 p.m. Cover charge. Open to the public.

• Calhoun Ranch (4.5 miles northwest of North Platte) - Live Irish music by Thistle Down of Scotland as well as local musicians. All day, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Free. Family event, play areas, hay rack rides, watermelon feed. Free will donation.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Whiskey Bent. 9 p.m. Cover charge.



Saturday, Aug. 25

• Cody Park Pool - Kayak games, local celebrity dunk, silent auction and lunch. Fundraiser for Bridge of Hope abuse shelter.

Sunday, Aug. 26

• St. Patrick's Church (Fourth & Chestnut) - 60th annual BBQ dinner & fundraiser. Noon-3 p.m. Meal, lots of children's games. Raffle drawing for up to $1,000. Silent auction.
