The National Weather Service reported 22 hundreths of an inch of rain at midnight and another 9 hundreths around 6:30 a.m., measured at the North Platte Regional Airport.

Just enough to freshen the air.

The temperature is expected to climb to 99 degrees Wednesday. But, there is a 30 percent chance of rain.

The weather service forecast calls for temperatures to reach the upper 90s until Saturday, when the high will be only 86 degrees. If 86 is the high, it will be the coolest day in since July 8, and only the third day since June 18 that the high temperature is below 90 degrees.

Average temperatures were 6-7 degrees above normal in June and July.

The hot weather will continue. The temperatures will climb back into the mid- to upper-90s early next week, the weather services says.
