A fourth member of the Virgil Apodaca family was arrested Sunday and arrived in Lincoln County Tuesday to face sexual assault charges. Virgil G. Apodaca, Jr, 20, was spotted Sunday by Hastings police at a convenience store. Sgt. Paul Weber of the Hastings Police said the younger Apodaca is well known to their department and the Hastings police knew there was a Lincoln County warrant for his arrest. Apodaca did not resist the arrest, Weber said. The senior Virgil Apodaca and two of his sons were already in the Lincoln County Jail, held on $1 million bonds, for alleged rapes that occurred at two parties in early May. According to court records, three teenage girls were allegedly raped, some repeatedly, at a party at 1303 East Sixth and another party at 420 West F. Virgil Apodaca Jr. is charged with two counts of aiding and abetting the sexual assaults. His bond is also set at $1 million. His father Virgil Sr. is alleged to have committed at least one assault and aided and abetted two others. He was arrested May 17. Two brothers, Jeromy Apodaca, 23, and Anthony Apodaca, 24, were arrested June 6, charged with aiding and abetting. Each charge of aiding and abetting carries a maximum penalty of 50 years imprisonment.
