The 16U North Platte Sensations entered the Class A ASA State Softball Tournament in Hastings with high expectations; however, untimely errors and the inability to hit the ball proved costly as they posted a 1-3 record. The tournament was held July 13-15. In game one against the Quakes (Silver) of Omaha, the Sensations entered the top of the seventh inning tied 3-3, but the Quakes got a big home run to win the game 6-3. Sally Hengen went 3-4 at the plate and Kaley Stokey and Hannah Hays went 2-3. Jenny Keck and Marissa Ramos shared pitching duties. The Sensations entered the losers bracket against the Nebraska Blue Diamonds. The Sensations fell 9-1. Mikenzi Wiseman and Hays went 1-2 and Stokey went 1-3 for the only Sensation's hits. Ramos and Keck shared duties on the mound. In a must-win game three, the Sensations took on the North Platte Express. The Sensations jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but then the Sensation's bats went ice cold and they entered the sixth inning down 5-2. In the bottom of the sixth, Hays singled and Ramos doubled to move Hays to third. Hengen singled to score Hays and Ramos advanced to third. Hengen then stole second and Keck stepped to the plate and doubled to centerfield to score Ramos and Hengen and tie the game 5-5. Mikenzi Wiseman stepped to the plate, having gone 0-2 in the game. She blasted a line-drive double to deep center scoring Keck and giving the Sensations the win 6-5 as time expired. Hays and Keck went 2-3 and Stokey, Hengen and Wiseman went 1-3. Keck got the win on the mound and Ramos the save. In the final game of the state tournament the Sensations fell to the Echoes Fury 13-5.
