Great Western Bank donated $20,000 Monday to Mid-Plains Community College’s fundraising campaign for the new health and sciecne in North Platte. The funds will be used in Today’s Vision…Tomorrow’s Reality” drive for the new North Platte campus building as the new events center on the McCook campus. Both buildings are slated to open soon. “We feel that it is important to give back to the community and we are grateful to be able to assist with these projects,” said Leland Poppe, Great Western Group President. “The project in North Platte will help us improve the education of our nurses and, ultimately, healthcare in our region. It has far-reaching impacts for the future.” Ryan Purdy, MPCC President, said he is excited about the donation. “This generous donation adds to the pool of what we’ve already received,” he said. “We do appreciate every dollar anyone gives us and when it's a gift of this magnitude, we really appreciate it.” Ribbons will be cut on both buildings on Aug. 22. The opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. for the McCook Events Center at 10 a.m. and the ribbon will be cut at 3 p.m. in North Platte. Both events are free and open to the public.
