A report of a gun being pointed at someone Sunday brought the Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies to the Welcome Inn on Rodeo Road. Deputies spoke with several people outside the motel who told them that Alejandro Mares, 37, had pointed a gun at one of them and said he was going to shoot him, according to a sheriff’s statement issued five days later. Deputies found Mares and detained him while they investigated. Officers searched several areas and found a gun, which the victim identified. It was a black semiautomatic BB gun -- an exact replica of a real handgun, the sheriff said. Mares was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and obstructing a police officer.
