Twelve pies competed for awards during the 4th of July celebration in Sutherland.

Homemade pie and ice cream were enjoyed by the community as local judges Nadine Thompson, Don Fleecs, Bev Coburn, and George Crosby analyzed and tasted the entries. The results:

1. Cherry Lattice – Kandi Schrader

2. Macadamia Keylime – Alisha Weber

3. Pecan – Dee Tederman

4. Blueberry – Kandi Schrader

5. Tie – Brandy Buscher - Strawberry & Nancy Walters - Chocolate Snow Cap

The first place winner received a full color photo book of pie contest complete with recipes, history and pictures of pies as well as the days special events.

Organizers give special thanks to the judges, the parents who helped in the kitchen, family and friends for the many pies, and especially to Keri Fisher and Gege Roberts who made the event a success.
