The fourth annual Nebraska Energy Fair, “Solar Experience,” will be held July 21 in Lyons, Neb. Participants will learn the basics of solar energy and see the possibilities through presentations and motorcoach tours of working installations. This day begins at 8:30 a.m. at Nebraska Green Fuels, 300 Main Street, Lyons, with solar basics by Robert Byrnes of Nebraska Renewable Energy Systems. This was the most popular presentation at the 2011 Nebraska Energy Fair, organizers say. Then, an air-conditioned motor coach tour of public and private solar installations will be conducted, including a stop for lunch at Silver Hills Vineyards & Winery, Nebraska’s first solar powered winery. The fair is presented by the Nebraska Loess Hills Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council and Nebraska Renewable Energy Systems. The cost is $20 per person ($30 after July 15), which includes the Solar Basics presentation, bus tour and lunch. Preregistration is required because space is limited and this tour always sells out. To register, call the Nebraska Loess Hills RC&D Council office (402)685-4020, or see www.nebraskaenergyfair.org.
