The North Platte River will flow at flood stage depth of six-feet for the foreseeable future because of the need for water for irrigation, Lincoln County Emergency Manager Dan Guenthner said Tuesday.

High releases from Lake McConaughy and Kingsley Dam will continue until significant rain fall in the drought-stricken areas.

Drought conditions have impacted 55 of 93 counties in Nebraska and Lincoln County is included in the State of Emergency Declaration, Guenthner said.

Guenthner said property owners along the North Platte River may see low lying ground flooding, but due to the ground water levels being lowerer, it may not cause too much of an issue as the water should soak in rather quickly.
