Two men died early Tuesday in the firery crash of three semi-trucks on U.S. Highway 30 near Silver Creek. The crash occurred just after 1:30 a.m., four miles west of Silver Creek on U.S. 30. A westbound semi-truck crossed the centerline and clipped an eastbound semi. The westbound semi then hit a second eastbound semi head-on. The two trucks burst into flames and both drivers were killed, Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said. The man driving the first eastbound semi was not injured. The names of the two men killed in the crash have not been released, pending notification of family. U.S. Highway 30 is expected to remain closed through noon Tuesday, as the investigation and clean-up continues. Silver Creek is 20 miles west of Columbus. Westbound traffic is detoured onto Highway 39 at Silver Creek. Eastbound traffic is being detoured at the Highway 92 junction, Collins said.
