Lincoln County sheriff's deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were informed at 5:42 p.m. Saturday that an adult male body was floating near Omaha Beach, just east of Oregon Trails Golf Course, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Family members and good Samaritans removed the body and started CPR, but Decent was unresponsive, the spokesman said.

An ambulance from Sutherland took Decent to the emergency room of Great Plains Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m., the spokesman said.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw Decent swimming in front of the campground about 10-20 minutes before he was found floating in the water.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the death, and the investigation is ongoing. The cause of death is believed to be accidental, the sheriff's spokesman said.

Decent was 49 years old.
