I am one of those who really enjoys Facebook and my on-line friends. Through that medium as well as regular e-mail, I keep in touch with people that I seldom see otherwise. It isn’t unusual to get a post from other parts of the state or even from other states wondering what the weather is like here in the hills. That should be your first clue that most of them are native Sandhillers! Life would be mighty dim without being able to keep in touch this way especially when I’m not feeling up to getting out and about.
CALLING CENTRAL
The old party line has long since gone its way. It’s Facebook, Twitter, etc. that spread news today. One thing remains a constant – watch your words! It’s amazing how a simple phrase can be so misunderstood!
I do miss the line call of the old days For things like fire and various maladies. I have to go online to find out the news today. Yes, it is apparent that technology holds the sway.
You knew that most folks listened in, They didn’t consider it a sin To catch up on the area news And maybe even exchange some views.
So just be careful folks about what you say Because online gossip can go a world away. If you don’t want all to know your thoughts, Then don’t post them online at any cost!
