Diaz is charged with second-degree murder stemming from his wife’s death on June 25, 2011.

Defense attorney Stephen Potter asked for a continuance, which Judge Donald Rowlands granted.

Diaz was jailed a year ago after calling rescue crews to the home he shared with his wife Michelle at 1920 W. 18th. According to North Platte Police Lt. Rich Thompson, Michelle was unresponsive when rescuers arrived and they called the police to the scene. Michelle was pronounced dead at the Great Plains Medical Center.

Diaz was arrested and has been in jail since, held on $2 million bond.
