The North Platte High School Class of 2002 will celebrate their 10-year reunion on Saturday.
The festivities will kick off Saturday at 11 a.m. with a family friendly picnic lunch at Centennial Park, catered by Ruby Tuesday's.
During their senior year, the class's prom theme was Enchanted Evening and the class song was "Time of your life" by Green Day.
Mr. Tom Hammond was an influential teacher who taught advanced placement (AP) literature and composition. He unexpectedly passed away after the class graduated.
Science teacher Bob McFarland was also a favorite teacher and the class elected him to escort them at graduation.
For the reunion, classmates are encouraged to bring a blanket or camping chairs because seating and shade will be limited. Lunch will be served at the gazebo on the west side of Oak St., across from Great Plains Hospital. Parking is available at the corner of Oak and Leota.
The celebration will continue that evening with an adults only cocktail hour at Sculley's Shooters Bar, beginning at 7 p.m. Guests are invited to attend before or after the Nebraskaland Days Daughtry concert. All ticket holders will be treated to $1 off all drinks all night, as well as no cover charge. Live music will begin at 9 p.m.
Guests are welcome to stay as long as they would like, but are encouraged to celebrate responsibly.
Sculleyfs Shooters is located at 2221 East 4th.
Tickets can be purchased at nphs2002.whindo.com for $25 per person. Tickets are non-]refundable due to catering requirements, and sales will end on Wednesday, June 20. Tickets for children ages 3+ are available for $8 each.
All NPHS graduates and future reunion planning committees are encouraged to update their contact information on the NPPSF alumni page, http://www.nppsf.org/alumni_update_info.html.
