Nathan Wieseler was recently hired as the assistant coach for the North Platte Community College Knights men’s basketball team.
Wieseler is the son of Jon and Kim Wieseler of North Platte. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 2005 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
He was a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball teams at ISU and was working as the video coordinator at Creighton University in Omaha before moving back to North Platte earlier this summer.
“I talked to Coach O’Connor (Knights head coach Kevin O’Connor) when he came to one of our practices at Creighton and he told me there was an assistant coaching job open at NPCC. We talked about it more over the next month or so and I decided to go for it,” he said.
“I am excited to help recruit quality players to NPCC and to work with our players to improve on a daily basis,” he continued. “I learned a lot from Coach McDermott and am excited to continue my basketball education under Coach O’Connor.”
