An oil painting of a nature scene by McCook artist Rick Johnson was judged the best of the Nebraskaland Days competitive art show.

Not only did Johnson win that award, he also received first place in the two-dimensional category with another oil painting – “Indian Summer.”

A woodcarving of a nude woman’s torso by John Potts of Grant was awarded first place in three-dimensional art.

An unusual view of a Harley motorcycle by Lisa Jones of Grant was judged the best photograph.

More than 200 entries are in the show, representing artists from 17 Nebraska towns and one from Colorado.

The show continues at the Platte River Mall through Sunday.

“It’s a very nice show with works of excellent quality,” organizer Sue Taylor said.

Noted North Platte artist Wava Best was the judge.
