It didn't take long for a North Platte man to get into trouble again. Ryan Gabel and David Terry of North Platte were both jailed Saturday for allegedly burglarizing the apartment of a North Platte woman. Terry is also charged with assault, disturbing the peace and criminal mischief. And Gabel, who has a lengthy history of alchol-related offenses, was in court as recently as Thursday, where he pled guilty to falsely telling police it was not his car that rolled down the Jeffers St. overpass in April with no driver. On Saturday, the alleged crimes began at 1:16 p.m., when police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 2300 block of East E. Two complaintants said that David Robert "Robby" Terry came to their home, along with an unidentified male, and threatened them, causing a disturbance. The complaintants told police that Terry confronted them and another woman who was there. After questioning, officers believed that Terry had assaulted the other woman at approximately 1:30 a.m. at another place. The women who reported the disturbance said they came to the woman's aid, according to a police spokesman. After investigation, police determined that there was probable cause to arrest Terry for disturbing the peace and 3rd degree domestic assault, and he was picked up a couple hours later, around 3 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of East D St., where the alleged victim said Terry might be found. While enroute, dispatch received another call from the woman, saying that Terry and a suspect later identified as Ryan Gabel broke into her apartment, police said. Terry and Gabel reportedly fled on foot, heading south on Griffith Ave. Police discovered that the victim’s tires were slashed and her apartment was burglarized. The stolen property was later found in a vehicle that Terry had been driving, police said. Terry was found a few blocks west of the apartment on Philip Ave. He was arrested and charged for third degree domestic assault, criminal mischief and burglary. And, he was found to have an Lincoln County warrant for failure to appear on a previous charge of third degree domestic assault, a police spokesman said. At approximately 9 p.m., police found Gabel at his home. He was arrested for burglary and booked into jail. The investigation and arrests were the result of a thorough team effort by both day and night shift officers of the North Platte Police Department, the spokesman said.
