The 16U North Platte Sensations traveled to Steamboat Springs, Colo. June 8-10, to compete in the Triple Crown Mountain Magic fast-pitch tournament. In pool play, the Sensations defeated the Lady Grays of Greeley, Colo., 6-5. Sally Hengen went 3 for 4, Kaley Stokey 2 for 3 and KayLynn Lantis 2 for 3 in the game, while Marissa Ramos got the win on the mound. The Sensations then "run-ruled" the Colorado Stars 10-1. Zandra Carlini went 3-3, Marissa Ramos 2-2 and Aspen Smith 1-1. Jenny Keck was the winning pitcher. In tournament play ,the Sensations drew one of the tournament favorites, the Triple Crown All-Stars. The lead changed hands until, tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the TC All-Stars got a clutch base hit to score the winning run. Monique Ochoa and Jenny Keck went 2-4 and Hannah Hays 1-3 for the Sensations. Jenny Keck took the loss on the mound. In game two of the double-elimination tournament, the Sensations took on the Parker, Colo. Thunderhawks '96. Again, the lead went back and forth. In the bottom of the fifth, with time expired and the game tied 6-6, the Thunderhawks scored the winning run on a hard hit ground ball up-the-middle. For the Sensations, Sally Hengen went 2-2 and Mikenzi Wiseman and Monique Ochoa went 2-3. Marissa Ramos and Jenny Keck shared pitching duties. The Sensations are back in action at home Thursday in a double-header at Dowhower Softball Complex against McCook.
