The North Platte Sensations softball team, ages 16 and under, finished 3-2 in the Stazio Fast-pitch Tournament May 26-27 in Boulder, Colo. The team had some big hits along with strong pitching by Marissa Ramos, propelling them to a 3-1 record in the opening round of games. In the first game, the Sensations held a 5-4 lead over the Colorado Stars through four innings. In the top of the fourth inning, Sensation's catcher Mikenzi Wiseman belted a two-run home run over the Centerfield fence. The Sensations won 9-4. In the second game, against the Colorado Coyotes, Sensations’ shortstop Sally Hengen's home run put an exclamation point on a 14-0 Sensations win by the "run-rule." The Sensations dropped game three to the Colorado Crew 4-0, but came back to play a strong game against the Western Slope Insanity. Sensation's first baseman Zandra Carlini dealt the final home run to end the game as the Sensations "run-ruled" the Insanity, 8-0. After those games, the Sensations In single-elimination tournament action, the Sensations lost their first game to the Triple Crown All-Stars, 10-0, to finish 3-2 in the tournament. The Triple Crown All-Stars showed plenty of offensive power throughout the tournament and won the championship, eliminating their final opponent by the "run-rule." The Sensations return to action June 8-11 in Steamboat Springs, Colo. at the Triple Crown Mountain Magic Tournament.
