An Open House for the North Platte Community College custom-built home will be from 5-7 p.m. May 31 and June 6.
Bids will be accepted until 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 7.
Since 1971, students and faculty in the building and construction programs at North Platte Community College have built a top-quality, three-bedroom house as “hands-on” training.
This year’s house features an open floor-plan and includes several special elements and upgrades.
Approximately one third of the 1,800 square foot house is dedicated to the master bedroom and bath, which is separated from the guest bedrooms by the living area. Some of the features of the spacious master suite include a corner garden tub, a contemporary marble shower, and his and hers vanities.
Another third of the house is dedicated to two guest bedrooms and another full bath. Each of the guest bedrooms features a spacious walk-in closet.
The remaining square footage is dedicated to the kitchen, dining room, and living room areas. The kitchen area features vaulted ceilings and a breakfast bar. Special features in the expansive kitchen include numerous hickory cabinets, an abundance of counter space and a recycling center.
The dining and living areas come together under cathedral ceilings. Recessed lighting is used generously throughout the home.
The floor plan also includes a utility area off the kitchen, rear entry access, and an area that can be converted into a stairway should the purchaser choose to put in a basement.
Flooring in the home includes three-quarter-inch wood floors in the living area, dining room, and kitchen, carpeted bedrooms, and Dura-Ceramic tile in the utility area and bathrooms.
The home was built with two-by-six exterior walls, Pella triple-pane casement windows, and a metal front door with a side panel. Heritage Asphalt shingles on the roof have a 30-year warranty and there is a 50-year guarantee on the house siding.
Interested individuals can see the house on the northwest corner of the north campus (Technical Campus), 1101 Halligan Dr. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, or by appointment.
The house will be sold by sealed bid, with a minimum bid of $80,000 required. All bids must be in sealed envelopes and addressed to: Bruce Bergman – NPCC House Bid, c/o North Platte Community College – North Campus, 1101 Halligan Dr., North Platte, NE 69101.
Bids will be accepted by mail or may be delivered in person. No faxes will be accepted. Bids will be accepted until 1 p.m. CDT on Thursday, June 7. At that time, the bids will be opened and the home will go to the highest bidder.
