The North Platte Public Library staff will again have a summer reading program for adults. This year’s theme is “Between the Covers.” This program is independent and does not require registration, attendance at meetings or cost. Participants read whatever they want over the summer, and every week have a chance to win an "Between the Covers" prize. Books in any format count: large print, fiction, non-fiction, e-books, audio books, etc. The program is open to adults 18 years of age and older and runs from June 1-Sept. 1. The initial prize drawing will be Saturday, June 9. Books can be a reader's personal copy or come from the library. For every book read, participants fill out a form to enter the drawing. There is a maximum of three entry forms per week. Drawings will be held at 5 p.m. Saturdays. It is not necessary to be present to win. Plus, if a reader attends any of the summer series programs and brown bag luncheons, they can enter a fourth time, under a special entry form. The reading programs begin at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, with a program about the Healing Benefits of Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy can help a person get a good night's sleep. Speaker Diane Osbon is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Grand Master. The audience will sample different fragrances that induce relaxation and sleep. Please call the library at 535-8036 to reserve a seat by Thursday, May 31.
