Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers along with the Nebraska Beef Council say that Stella’s Bar & Grill in Bellevue is the winner of the second annual “Nebraska’s Best Burger” contest. The contest selection was made through online nominations and a panel of judges. The contest sought nominations throughout March, resulting in votes for nearly 100 different restaurants. Stella’s cheeseburger received enough nominations to reach the top 10 and was ultimately awarded the best burger by a panel of judges who conducted an anonymous taste test. The cheeseburger is made from a six and a half ounce fresh ground beef patty served with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and mayonnaise. Each burger at Stella’s can be personalized with a number of toppings including bacon, mushrooms, a fried egg and even peanut butter. Stella's also won best burger contests in Omaha in both 2008 and 2009. “Stella’s has a long history of serving great tasting, quality beef hamburgers” said Adam Wegner, Director of Marketing for the Nebraska Beef Council. “Their commitment to providing consistent, one-of-a-kind burgers is apparent in everything they do from their large list of fresh toppings to their unique style of serving each burger on a napkin.” Other restaurants in the top five include runner-up Big Red Restaurant & Sports Bar in Lincoln, Omaha, Norfolk and Fremont; Tommy Colina’s Kitchen in Omaha; Sinful Burger in Bellevue and Runza Restaurants in various locations across Nebraska. A complete list of nominated restaurants is available on www.nebeef.org. Stella’s Bar & Grill will be awarded the first place plaque and will be featured by the Beef Council in May as part of Nebraska Beef Month.
