On the evening of March 18 our lives were forever changed when an EF3 tornado hit our home on West Front Road. Only by the grace of God did we survive without major injury as we sought safety in a hallway while the storm very quickly destroyed the house around us. The outpouring of support from our community has been simply overwhelming. Within hours of sunrise the following day, more than 100 people showed up with chain saws, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, food, bottled water, and willing hands. Thank you to all who had a part of this remarkable clean-up effort. Both the Red Cross and the Salvation Army were present, serving refreshments and drinks during the two-day project. But that was only the beginning of the support from our community. Hoover Chiropractic served as a collection for a Tornado Relief Drive where a trailer was loaded with household items. We even had “personal shoppers” who stocked our kitchen on the day we moved into our temporary home! On April 13, we were again blessed with the “One Community Working Together” benefit. A big thank you to those who organized this and the many businesses and individuals who donated items for the silent auction. Thank you to NebraskaLand National Bank for providing food and Wild Country for the live remote and for providing another drop-off location for donations. It was an incredible evening of encouragement from many friends and family members. We are blessed to live in a community where everyone comes together in a time of disaster. Thank you again to all who have helped with donations, meals and gift cards, and especially those who continue to pray for us as we begin this next chapter of our lives. We cannot begin to thank everyone who has supported us through this time. God bless each of you!
