Special UP plate
|
Only a few days remain to apply for special railroad license plates. In celebration of the Union Pacific Railroad’s 150th Anniversary, the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles will produce 500 special license plates this spring to commemorate UPRR’s long-standing legacy throughout the state. The plates cost $70 and must be paid by a personal check to “The Friends of the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.” The deadline to apply for the plates is March 2. Those interested can print an application from uprr.com, fill it out and send it along with the check to Tina Abbott-Bowerman at the Union Pacific Center at 1400 Douglas Street in Omaha. (68179) It will take about a month for the DMV to create the plates. Applicants will receive a letter from the DMV notifying when their plates will be available for pick-up at each County Treasurer’s office. License plate fees go to the state of Nebraska. The Friends of the Union Pacific Railroad Museum do not profit from sales.
