Eight North Platte people plus four others from nearby towns were charged Monday and Tuesday in a regional drug bust, following six months of undercover investigations.

Those arrested were charged with selling controlled substances to undercover investigators or agents. The drugs included marijuana, pharmaceuticals and methamphetamines, according to a police statement.

A Cozad man, two Eustis men and a woman from McCook were also charged.

The investigation was the work of 10 cooperating law enforcement agencies, according to law enforcement officials. Undercover investigations began in February and continued for more than six months.

Eight of those charged were jailed on other charges, such as assault and DUI, during the last five months, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

One man, Jeffery Manary, is already in jail charged with homicide and distribution of amphetamine in the death of Esther M. Smith of North Platte, and held on a $500,000 bond.

In all, two women and six men were charged in North Platte on Monday and Tuesday. They are:

• Daryll B. Foster, 50, possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver.

• Stephanie L. Hill, 26, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

• Jeffery D. Manary, 41, possession of amphetamine with intent to deliver.

• Marina E. Mata, 20, possession of xanax with intent to deliver.

• Robert A. Miller, 40, possession of amphetamine with intent to deliver.

• Fred Nabry, 61, possession of amphetamine with intent to deliver.

• Joseph M. Boggs, 21, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

• William Dennis Boe, 56, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Also, Tammy K. Cheever, 45 and Bill E. Cheever, Sr. 53, were arrested in Eustis Monday and charged with possession of pharmacy drugs. Each of their bonds were set at $50,000.

Bond was also set Monday for Foster -- $100,000.

Bill E. Cheever, Jr., 22, was arrested in Cozad and charged with possession of Klonopin. Also, Judith V. Stark, 48, was arrested in McCook, but her charge was not released to the news media.

CODE effort

Police departments in North Platte and Cozad worked on the investigation as well as sheriff’s offices in Lincoln, Dawson, Frontier and Red Willow counties, plus the Nebraska State Patrol and federal officers with the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Those law agencies are part of the cooperative operation for drug enforcement (CODE), a collaboration of agencies in 22 counties that is funded by a grant from the Federal Bureau of Justice Assistance.
