Authorities reported that a 16-year-old escapee was apprehended Feb. 19 in Lexington. Irving Ramos escaped the custody of a transport service at the Western convenience Truck Stop near Hershey. He was arrested at a minor-in-possession party in Lexington Friday, according to the Lincoln County Attorney’s office. A Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson said that K-9 units followed footprints from a stolen vehicle to a trailer court in Lexington, leading to the arrest. The Lexington Police Department took Ramos into custody, the NSP spokesperson said. Two troopers assisted in the apprehension of the youth. Ramos was taken to the Madison County Youth Detention facility to await transport to the Lincoln County jail, the county attorney’s office reported. Ramos will face an escape charge in adult court, the CA’s office said. Escape is a class-three felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Lincoln County Jail personnel confirmed Monday evening that Ramos arrived and was in custody in North Platte. The escape The Lexington Police Department Feb. 13 deemed the youth uncontrollable and took him into custody. The press release said the Lexington PD made arrangements to transport the youth to a detention facility in the Scottsbluff/Gering area. Prince of the Road Transport Company was contracted to take the juvenile to the facility. An LCSO press release stated that police warned the driver of the youth’s history of assault, motor vehicle thefts, and escapes, but the driver opted not to handcuff or leg shackle the detainee. The release said that during the driver decided that a bathroom break was in order around 7:45 p.m.near Hershey. When he opened the back door of the vehicle, the youth pushed him out of the way and started running. Three LCSO Deputies and three State Patrol troopers searched the area for two hours, the release said. In addition, the patrol activated their Air Wing in Ogallala. Two troopers utilized the patrol’s FLIR (infra-red) equipment but were unable to locate the escapee.
