Andrew Boekhout, 20, Dustin Ray, 19, Todd Hatfield, 20, all of Omaha, allegedly entered an unlocked home near Hershey at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 24. They made off with quite a haul.

The trio allegedly stole three shotguns, a flat-panel television and a fire safe, then drove south of town and pried the safe open, said Chief Deputy Dean Sparks of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

The safe contained about $100,000 worth of gold and silver coins and bars.

They apparently destroyed the television and pitched the shotguns in a pasture.

Law officers believe the gold and silver is near Omaha/Council Bluffs.

Boekhout is originally from the Hershey area and moved to Omaha to attend community college. Sparks said he became involved in drugs, gangs, and a large Omaha burglary ring.

He is currently out on bail.

In high school, Boekhout attended parties at the rural Hershey home and might well have known about the safe and contents, Sparks said.

Warrants have been issued for Ray and Hatfield.

Lincoln County and Douglas County Sheriff’s offices are working together to find Ray and Hatfield and the precious metals.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Ray and Hatfield have gang ties and are involved in a large burglary ring that operates in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area.

Burglary is a Class III felony which is punishable by 1-25 years in prison, a $25,000 fine, or both.
