An all-day benefit is set in Maxwell Saturday to benefit Mysholay Cortes, who was seriously hurt in a post-Christmas rollover Dec. 26. Cortes, 25, was injured when a Jeep car hit a couple of snowdrifts on N. Maxwell Road, rolled over and came to rest on the roof. The driver, Matt Seamann, left the scene and was later arrested. Cortes was flown to a Denver hospital with a broken hand and puncture wound to the stomach. Cortes sustained disabling injuries, benefit organizers said. Festivities start at 11 a.m. at Brazen Jane's Bar-N-Grill on W. Highway 30. There will be door and raffle prizes, including a $200 gift certificate from the Tatoo Clinic, two $50 gift certificates from Anchor In, prizes from the Cedar Bowl, and more. Food will be served at 6 p.m. with a free will donation. At 9 p.m. the jam band BFD of North Platte will perform rock classics. The cover charge for the band is $5 per person, $8 per couple. All proceeds will benefit Cortes. BFD plays easy listening, acoustic folk/rock, including southern rock and Dylanesque folk, performed by Big Dan Koehler on guitar and vocals, and a variety of band members, including wife Donna on keyboard and percussion, Jim Stewart on bass and Floyd White on drums.
