Attorney General Jon Bruning recently announced that Charles Fieldgrove of Litchfield was sentenced to as many as 40 years in prison for the abuse of his girlfriend’s daughter. “Mr. Fieldgrove took advantage of his relationship to prey on a young girl,” Bruning said. “Prison is exactly where he deserves to be.” In November, a Sherman County jury convicted Fieldgrove of four counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class II felony. Today he was sentenced to 9 to 10 years on each count, to be served consecutively, for a total of 36-40 years in prison. Fieldgrove, 48, began abusing his girlfriend’s daughter when she was in the fourth grade. She reported it to authorities four years later, in 2006, and authorities intevened. Assistant Attorney General Randy Stoll and Sherman County Attorney Mark Eurek handled the case.
