The North Platte man convicted of the unintended killing of Greg Styles was sentenced Monday in Lincoln County District Court. Amiria “Braka” Matlock pleaded no contest Sept. 1 to attempted first-degree assault. He had initially been charged with manslaughter. Monday he was sentenced to five years probation and a unique jail sentence. Matlock will serve 120 days beginning Dec. 30 (Matlock will apply and be considered for work release). Jail officials reported that a 120-day sentence with good time ends up being 84 days. Upon his release, Matlock will additionally report to jail on the Styles' birthday and the anniversary of Styles' death, Judge John Murphy ordered. Matlock must additionally pay $500 a month in restitution, half of which will be deposited in a trust fund for Styles’ son, who can access the funds when he goes to college or when he turns 21, which ever comes first.
