Crews from Nebraska Public Power District worked to restore service to southeast Nebraska communities that lost power early Monday during an early-winter snow storm.

Power lines fell and poles broke in the storm. As of mid-afternoon Monday, approximately 2,000 NPPD retail customers were without power as well as nearly 4,200 customers served by Norris Public Power District.

The communities of Pawnee City, Table Rock, Burchard, Dubois, Humboldt, Dawson, Crab Orchard, Shubert, and Verdon were hit by the storm.

The heavy, wet snow brought tree branches down onto power lines.

Reports of power outages began around 10:15 a.m. Monday in several communities.

Individuals who await restoration of power may are making alternative arrangements for shelter.
