A freshly-remodeled Brady Get ’N Go opened three weeks ago under new ownership.

The Get ’N Go at the corner of U.S. Highway 30 and Market St. had been closed for a year, but a former truck driver and his wife decided to buy it.

The community needs it, owner Jack Mann said.

Mann, 53, drove over the road for several years but wants to spend more time with family. He and wife Pamela, plus a sister and brother-in-law, are the core of the workforce.

The Get ’N Go sells gasoline, a considerable amount of groceries, refreshments and a full line of convenience items. Homegrown potatoes and produce and locally-produced dessert toppings and gift items are featured.

A garage and quick-lube opened last week in the adjoining building.

The store is 13 miles from Gothenburg and 23 miles from North Platte. It opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Mon.-Sat. It’s open Sunday from noon-8 p.m.

“We have a lot of retired people in town who don’t travel a lot,” Jack Mann said. “People need a place to get a gallon of milk, loaf of bread or a pack of cigarettes.”

Business is steady and compliments have been frequent during the first couple of weeks, Jack said.

The couple put four clocks above the front door -- one for each time zone in the continental U.S. The locations of their grandkids are noted there too.

“We’re trying to take care of everyone as best we can,” Jack said.
