Rep. Adrian Smith will speak in Brady and Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale will speak in Hershey on Veteran’s Day. Some Veteran’s Day observances: • 11 a.m. – Special Ceremony at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell. • 11 a.m. – VFW Post 1504 Ceremony, featuring Vietnam War vet Rob Barnes. Followed by a bean feed at noon. • 1:30 p.m. – Rededication of the Flag ceremony at Perkins Restaurant, 2302 S. Jeffers. An Honor Guard and entertainment will be present. Refreshments will be provided. • 2 p.m. – NebraskaLand National Bank president Mike Jacobson will give the address at the 20th Century Veterans Memorial. • 4 p.m. - North Platte parade. The North Platte Downtown Association will host the 16th annual downtown Veteran’s Day Parade. The parade starts at Second and Dewey, travels north on Dewey to Sixth, east to Bailey and south back to the starting point. Entries include area school bands, Scout groups, veterans organizations and other community groups.
Gale in Hershey Secretary of State John Gale will be the featured speaker at Veteran’s Day observances Nov. 11 at the Hershey American Legion Hall. The doors open at 6 p.m. A turkey noodle dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. Free will donations are appreciated.
Smith to speak in Brady Congressman Adrian Smith will give a Veterans Day address at approximately 6:20 p.m. Nov. 11 in Brady at the Feed Bunk Bar and Grill, 118 No. Market St. This is a public event.
Discounts at Golden Spike observation tower The Golden Spike Tower and Visitors Center will honor veterans on Nov. 11. Any past or present serviceman or woman and their families will receive $1 off regular admission that day. Also, any person that brings a canned food item, any time up until Thanksgiving will receive $1 off. All canned goods will be donated to local food pantries for the Christmas Holiday Season. Tickets will be reduced to $5 per adult, or $4 per senior.
