Anthony May

An 18-year-old North Platte man could spend the next 50 years in prison after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl at a party.

Anthony May, 2321 W. Fourth, also faces contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges after a party for underage kids he threw the night of Nov. 7.

During the party, the alleged victim consumed too much alcohol and began to pass in and out of consciousness, the spokesperson reported.

Despite that, she became aware that May was sexually assaulting her. When she sobered up the next morning, she contacted the police and May was arrested.

First-degree sexual assault is a class-two felony and as such carries a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison.

The contributing charge is a class one misdemeanor.

May was held on $50,000 bond and requested a public defender. Lincoln County Jail staff reported that May bonded out Monday afternoon.

ok , why is it the male is always the alleged aggressor? Now days kids party just as i did when i was a kid, but now if a girl gets drunk , has a romp with another person, the first thing that happens is they cry rape, hey folks , wake up. Your kids do the same things we did , they get drunk and screw, live with it

apperantly they were doing more than just getting drunk that night. if she claims sexual assult-rape. most of the time they are tested to see if there was intercourse right? obviously it wasn''t negative, wether or not it was consensual, they shouldn''t have put themselves in the situation to begin with.

Same ol small town stupidity from the sounds of it. Parents need to make sure they know who their underage kids are hangin out with. All i can say is there needs to be more activities for teens in North Platte to curb the underage drinking epidemic. It''s the same now as when I went to high school. Nothing is going to change so long as there is little for teenagers to do.

I know Anthony personally. I grew up with this kid and his family. I''ve heard so many stories about him "forcing" girls to sleep with him, and it personally happened to me once, but I thankfully got "rescued" I really think Anthony needs to be put away. He just recently was sent to, and ran away from rehab. SOMEONE LOCK THIS KID UP. PLease! He needs to be taught a few lessons. As for his parents, not a good influence either, alcoholics at that. They let anthony drop out and do whatever he pleased.

SQPP18, you obviously don''t know Anthony "rather" well. As far as the girl goes, if she is so pure, why is she staying out all night at a party and so drunk she is in and out of consiousness? If she was that drunk, how does she even know what happened. Was there any witness or any physical proof? I still believe she is making this up to cover her a??.

i know Anthony rather well, and honestly im not shocked this happened. its rumored that he has done this more than once. and i am very good friends with the victim. she deserves better than what has been said about her in some of these comments. it was not her fault some jerk took advantage of her. and i personally think this jerk deserves some punishment. karma just happens to be a witch. =]

SRW it''s not illegal to have sex when you are drunk and drunk doesn''t always mean no consent. If that were the law, the population of North Platte would drop by 50%

Grant it that the girls shouldn''t have been there in the first place and especially not drinking. HOWEVER, RAPE IS RAPE. It shouldn''t happen anywhere or anytime. He should be punished to the fullest extent for the alcohol and rape. She should also be punished for alcohol consumption as a minor.

I agree with sensible. Girls that go to these parties are setting themselves up for bait. When alcohol gets into the blood stream it makes even the ugliest dog look pretty hot and sexy. The bottom line is don''t drink.

I guess some people continue to be completely ignorant of the law. If the woman is intoxicated, regardless of her age, she can not give consent to engage in sexual relations of any kind. It does not matter if the other party is intoxicated or not, it is considered sexual assualt, because consent cannot be given. Why is that so difficult to understand?

People need to keep their pants zipped.

They were probably ALL drunk and a lot of stupid things happen when you''re drunk. I see this case being thrown out. I think it''ll be hard for the state to prove rape when she was so intoxicated and I''m sure he''s saying she was willing. They''re young and have a lot to learn. Teens have sex all the time. She''s probably got in trouble for being out and drunk so she''s tryin to cover her own a**

It''s too bad that people can''t wait for the facts. How are they certain he threw the party or was it maybe his room mate or someone else. He pays rent and stays there. What are these girls (plural) doing there all night? Where are the parents? I have this feeling she is crying fowl to get herself out of trouble.

I don''t care if the victim was 17 or 27. If she was passed out, then she didn''t consent. This is where another person at the party needs to "man up" and step in so that women (of any age)aren''t taken advantage of.

No matter what age the young lady or the young man happen to be........no matter the intoxication of either person......sexual assault is sexual assault. If he took sexual liberties with her without her consent, It is assault! Young people, wake up. Parents, stop condoning alcohol use by your under-age kids. Horrible things can happen, lives can be ruined. The fact that they were drinking contributed to this situation, I''m sure....but that doesn''t change the fact this young lady alleges she was sexually compromised by this young man.

Everyone was drinking and they may have both decided together to get their freak on. Then when she sobered up and her beer goggles wore off became not so ok with it.

First of all, by Nebraska statutes he is a minor. In Nebraska the age of majority is 19. There 18 year olds currently placed in local youth centers. As for the alcohol...knowing this family, it was probably just in the house. As for all you young girls out there who don''t want to be taken advantage of while drunk on your a$$. DON''T DRINK! I don''t think this should be handled as a felony sexual assault case. Odds are he was as drunk as her and not in control of his actions. I seriously doubt that this kid...sober...would assault anyone. The whole thing is a terrible mess but I don''t believe Anthony needs to have his life destroyed and be branded a sexual predator. And...where were the parents? Huh?

So....who bought the booze for them? He''s 18, she''s 17, they are BOTH under-age. I don''t know if kids get on here and read this, but if they do PLEASE young people...make some better choices! Males and females! Whenever you go to a party, you never know what happens to people when they drink, who they become. Many times it''s a VERY different person than when they are sober. Mr. May...you are in BIG trouble due to your lack of judgement.

I''m sure he probably is guilty, but there are some details missing here. First of all, he''s 18 and she''s 17. Its still against the law, but they probably sit next to each other in home-ec class for crying out loud. Same thing goes for contributing to the deliquency of a minor, he is practically a minor himself and hardly an adult. Just my speculation, but I bet this was a one night stand and she was mad because he didn''t call her back.

boxer--you are right I do see the resemblance. If these charges are true then he is a sick joker. Maybe he should think of hanging out with ppl his own age or older instead of throwing a party for minors. Glad the party in Maxwell didn''t turn out like this.
