Aside from a heated discussion over a resolution formally adopting goals at the end of the meeting, the city council’s regular session passed largely without incident. All votes save for the last one were passed unanimously, including: • Awarding a contract for three new diesel trucks to Nebraska Truck Center to the tune of $259,121. • Approving a resolution to remove the traffic signals from the downtown intersection of Fifth and Dewey. • Signing a construction contract for water extension district 258 along Burlington Boulevard to Walt Myers Construction of Broken Bow. The contract is for $30,482.80. • Adopting an ordinance amending chapter 153 of the city’s code of ordinances to bring flood plain management in line with current FEMA regulations. • Approving the police department’s “You Drink and Drive, You Lose” safety grant for December, and, • Allowing Dana Point Development Corporation to assign Dixie Gardens, L.P., their interest in the purchase of several lots from the city, and subsequently authorizing the mayor to deliver the deeds to the properties to Dixie Gardens.
