The alleged selling of prescription drugs has two North Platte teens in hot water with the law. According to Investigator Jeff Foote of the North Platte Police Department, a 15-year-old female sold a single tablet of what is believed to be oxycodone to a 17-year-old male at the high school Oct. 29. Foote said school staff learned about the transaction and contacted police. An officer arrived and cited the juvenile female for distribution of a controlled substance, a class-two felony, according to the summons. The juvenile male was cited for possession of a controlled substance, a class-four felony. Both suspects were then released into the custody of their parents, Foote said. He also said investigators believe the drugs were originally acquired from family members. Distribution of a controlled substance carries a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison, and a minimum of one year in prison. Possession carries a maximum of five years in prison, a $10,000, or both.
