Catina Martinez, 36, was westbound on U.S. Highway 30 in a pickup truck around 3:20 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, according Captain Jim Parish of the Nebraska State Patrol.

She was four miles east of Paxton when the accident occurred.

NSP believes Martinez drifted across the eastbound lane of traffic, winding up on the shoulder of the opposite side of the road. She then swerved back onto the road before overcorrecting the other way, winding up in the ditch on the south side of the highway.

Martinez was not wearing a seatbelt. She was ejected from the truck as it rolled into the ditch.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Parish would not speculate as to the cause of the accident. The Keith County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
