One of four people implicated by a controlled delivery of a package containing 16 lbs. of marijuana pleaded no contest in Lincoln County District Court Monday. Anthony Apodaca, 21, also faced charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute along with Jesus Rodriguez, a Texas man. On Monday, Apodaca pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine. Apodaca’s sentencing was scheduled for Dec. 14. His attorney Jennifer Kearney asked that the terms of his bond, which stipulated that Apodaca remain outside of Lincoln County except for court appearances and attorney meetings, be changed to allow him to spend Thanksgiving with his family. County Attorney Rebecca Harling did not object, and Judge Donald Rowlands changed Apodaca’s bond to allow him into Lincoln County from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Apodaca currently resides and works in Hastings. Two of the other suspects in the pot package case, Jesus Rodriguez and Malia Caudillo, have had their court dates continued while the fourth suspect, Nicky Apodaca, has already pleaded and been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
