North Platte native Danny Woodhead made his National Football League debut on Sunday in the New York Jets' 38-0 win over the Oakland Raiders.
Against the Raiders, Woodhead had three carries for 24 yards, including a run of 16 yards.
Woodhead had a strong preseason for the Jets in the summer but was one of the last players cut on Sept. 6. But the former Chadron State star was eventually picked up by the Jets for their practice squad.
On Oct. 18, Woodhead was called up on the Jets' active roster and suited up, wearing No. 83 instead of 22, which he wore in the preseason, last week in the team's loss to the Buffalo Bills.
In the game on Sunday, the Jets got out to a big lead early against the Raiders, allowing Woodhead to receive his first significant playing time on the professional level.
Next Sunday, Woodhead and the Jets (4-3) host the Miami Dolphins at Giants Stadium.
