The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrested Thomas Hunt Wednesday on three charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child. Hunt was arrested at his mother’s house Oct. 14, according to the County Attorney’s Office. The three new charges are on top of what Hunt was arrested for in late September. LCSO Chief Deputy Dean Sparks confirmed to the Bulletin Wednesday night that the Sheriff’s Office learned Hunt had allegedly had sexual intercourse this summer with an 11-year-old girl while camping at Lake Maloney. The alleged victim in the new charges is the same as in the case Hunt was previous charged with, a North Platte Police Department spokesperson stated. The other two new charges stem from a continuing investigation by the North Platte Police Department, Chief Deputy County Attorney Todd Engleman said. First-degree sexual assault of a child carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.
