If you blinked, you missed the City Council’s Tuesday meeting. North Platte’s elected representatives rolled through their agenda in less than fifteen minutes. While they were in session, the council passed the first reading of an ordinance to rezone 1501 E. Twelfth Street from a dwelling district to a light industrial district. Shundoff Property Development L.C. intends to build new storage units on the property. The form Shundoff submitted to justify the rezoning said that trailers and pasture surround the property. To the east lies the city impound lot. The council passed the reading unanimously. Two more readings are required to make the ordinance official. The council table awarding a website development contract for the Preservation Commission to Art College. The contract needed to be reworked slightly, so it was decided to address the situation at a later date. The rest of the council’s business passed unanimously, including: • Approved the Touchdown Club’s request for a special designation permit on Oct. 24 at the D and N Event Center. An ultimate fighting event will be hosted that night. • Adopted the Planning Commission’s recommendation to approve Habitat Fifth Replat in the 2400 block of W. 15 Street. • Adopted the Planning Commission’s recommendation to approve Lashley Land Replat at 2218 E. Walker Road. • Approved signing an animal control interlocal agreement with Village of Arnold. • Approved placing a stop sign stopping eastbound traffic on W. Third at Vine. • Approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign an interlocal agreement with Lincoln County regarding the use and administration of CDBG funds to update both the city’s and the county’s comprehensive plans. Prior to the start of the meeting, the scouts of Troop 287 received citizenship awards from council president Don Kurre, acting on behalf of the mayor.
