A wild ride down Interstate 80 landed a North Platte couple in trouble with the law. A Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson reported that Saturday Oct. 3 they received a notice from Keith County Communications advising them to be on the lookout for a red Pontiac eastbound from Ogallala. A caller had alerted Keith County authorities around 4:30 p.m. that the driver of the car, a man, was drinking a Bud Light, and that his female passenger was topless. Shortly after receiving the alert, the State Patrol received a call that the vehicle had stopped at the Sutherland rest area and that the couple was exhibiting suspicious behavior. A trooper responded to the rest stop. Finding the women still in a state of undress, the trooper cited Kelly J. Cox, 39, for indecent exposure and disturbing the peace. The driver, Roger L. Cox, 47, was also ticketed for disturbing the peace. The spokesperson declined to comment on the behavior the couple was engaged in at the rest area and neither Cox was placed under arrest.
